The Cartoon Art Museum is putting together a mailer and we need your help!
All the mail has been folded and assembled but we need help sealing and stamping them so they can reach donors!

Plus, get a special sneak peek because the mailer assemblage will take place before reopening at our new location in Fisherman's Wharf right next to Ghiradelli Square and Aquatic Park.

Mission Statement

The Cartoon Art Museum’s mission is to ignite imaginations and foster the next generation of visual storytellers by celebrating the history of cartoon art, its role in society, and its universal appeal. Our vision is to be the premier destination to experience cartoon art in all its many forms from around the world, and a leader in providing insight into the process of creating it.

Description

In 1984, a group of cartoon art enthusiasts began organizing exhibitions by using art work from their own collections. the Cartoon Art Museum was a "museum without walls," setting up shows in local museums and corporate spaces. A 1987 endowment from Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz enabled the museum to established residence in San Francisco's Yerba Buena neighborhood. Over 30 years later over 100 exhibitions and 20 publications have been produced. The Cartoon Art Museum is the only museum in the western United States dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of cartoon art in all its forms. This unique institution houses approximately 7,000 original pieces in its permanent collection; a complete volume research/library facility is located on the museum's premises.

The museum's key function is to preserve, document, and exhibition this unique and accessible art form. The museum presents exhibitions of historical and cultural significance, retrospectives of masters in the field of cartooning, and new talent. Services designed to educate the public about the social contributions of cartoon art examine society, communicate cultural diversity, and empower self expression. Tour and activity programs are available for school groups and organizations. The museum hosts cartooning classes, and presents lectures, slide presentations, and panel discussions. The Cartoon Art Museum encourages the development of young local artists and museum professionals through internships and targeted programming. The store enables visitors to support the art form and bring it home.
