Qualifications:

Experience in caring for others is preferred but not required. We will do all the necessary training. Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus. The volunteer must be patient, emotionally mature, objective, flexible, responsible and demonstrate good judgement. This is such a rewarding opportunity with great benefits.

Responsibilities:

The live-in House Manager provides services directly to the residents (high functioning adults with developmental disabilities) including teaching the necessary skills, assisting to maintain a clean and safe environment, preparing meals, and maintaining personal hygiene/grooming. The House Manager is responsible for supervising, training, and assisting residents in every aspect of their lives, with the goal of fostering more independence and happiness in their lives. A house manager must approach the residents with equality, respect, and a positive attitude. The House Manager is responsible for supervising, training, and assisting residents in their vocational training, socialization, nutrition, transportation, and decision-making. A house manager is responsible for maintaining a healthy living environment within his/her home, budgeting household money, and assisting in the upkeep of the homes/community, Finally, there are several organizational responsibilities as follows: demonstrating cooperation with other House Managers, director of programming, residential coordinator, work coordinator, and executive director; attending all required training, and acting as a positive role model for the villagers/residents.

Benefits:

Room and board, meals, medical insurance (we pay premium), transportation, weekly stipend of $250.00, two days off per week on a rotating basis, four weeks scheduled vacation), and a $1200.00 bonus for completing one full year of service. Married persons may apply, spouse may hold another job or be a House Manager as well.
