Our holistic program model helps youth improve fitness levels by playing soccer and develop self-expression by writing poetry. We provide a 12-week fall season, during which all poet-athletes travel to nearby sites to play in a real soccer game day.
Currently, we need the most help with referees at our game days. These games are held mostly on Thursdays (elementary schools) and Fridays (middle schools). Rules vary according to elementary vs. middle games, however the environment is casual and our goal is to make sure that the kids have fun!
Referee training materials and support is offered for all games. Games normally start at 4 PM, and require a 3:45 PM arrival. Some soccer knowledge or experience is recommended, but advanced knowledge is not necessary.

We envision a DC where every child - no matter their family income - experiences the joys of childhood: sports, arts, service, and being part of a team. Where every child - no matter their family circumstances - is empowered to find academic success and grow into an emotionally and physically healthy teen and adult. Where every neighborhood supports and celebrates its children and their accomplishments on and off the playing field.
