Northwest Harvest is looking for a volunteer coder or web developer to make their 'Farm-to-Food Bank’ site, www.growing-connections.org, mobile friendly.

The site functions as a platform that connects growers to food banks to help increase the amount and variety of fresh fruit and vegetables available to food bank participants. The site was built as a "base model" as a recipient of Seattle Give Camp. We are finding that for the site to be successful, we need to make sure it can be accessed on Smartphones.

The coding languages used in developing the site are html, CSS, Microsoft Razor Syntax, and C#. The database is an Azure SQL server instance and can be manipulated using Microsoft’s version of SQL. Our ideal date for creating the mobile friendly version is December 15, 2017. It is not expected that work be done onsite, and we have the capability to use Slack for daily/weekly communication. The number of hours to work per week are up to the volunteer’s time capacity and can be determined on the outset of beginning the project where we will identify what can be done in the allotted timeframe.

If you'd like to learn more about this volunteer project to see if it might be a good fit for you, please respond to this posting and we'll get back to you right away! Thank you!

Please note: Northwest Harvest can provide service hours for work or school purposes, but we are unable to provide court-related community service.

Northwest Harvest is a hunger-response network that provides food free of charge to more than 375 food banks, meal programs, and high need schools. Last year, we distributed more than 33 million pounds of food to this network.
