Show off the tools of your trade! Volunteer at the College and Career Fair at Garinger
ORGANIZATION: Communities In Schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Inc.
Please visit the new page to apply.
We are truly thankful to have community members and career professionals like you that are willing to volunteer their time with our students. We believe it is extremely important for students to actually see and talk with career professionals in their areas of interest. Over 1000 Garinger students will participate in this event. This gives them a more realistic view of what their career pathway might look like as opposed to what they see in the media and can help provide the direction they need to pursue their interests.
Be sure to bring the "tools of your trade." Dress in your typical work attire and make your table interactive. The "tools of your trade" can be actual tools or visual examples of what you do on a daily basis. Feel free to advertise your business with signs and brochures. If you need help or have questions, please contact us.
A table will be available and a sign listing your career area and company name. There will be refreshments for all presenters. Upon arrival, student volunteers will be available to direct you to parking and assist you to the media center. Electrical outlets are limited, so be sure to charge your devices prior to arrival.
Feel free to forward this email and link to anyone that might be a good candidate to participate. We appreciate your assistance and hope to provide another valuable experience for our students and families.
Please confirm your participation by completing this form before October, 13, 2017:

Mission Statement
Our mission is to surround students with a community of support empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
Description
Please Note: We typically do not have access to students over the summer months; therefore, individual volunteer placements for School/Reading Buddies, Tutors, or Mentors are made from September through the end of March each school year. While you may complete our Volunteer Interest Form at any time, please keep this Sept-March timeframe in mind if you are interested in one of these volunteer roles that is matched to an individual student
Communities In Schools believes all students deserve five basic resources: A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult; A safe place to learn and grow; A healthy start and a healthy future; A marketable skill to use upon graduation; A chance to give back to peers and the community. Communities In Schools is part of the nation's largest stay-in-school network helping young people continue their education. Some of the challenges students face include family conflict, poor self esteem, drug and alcohol abuse, juvenile crime, illiteracy, poor health, and teen pregnancy.
