Eyeglass Recycle Program
Recycled Eyeglass Program Helps Children and Adults in need across the world

You can make a difference for a child or adult in a poor country by helping to get much needed eyeglasses that could mean the difference for a child that cannot read in school, or a parent that cannot work and take care of their family. Thousands of eyeglasses are already donated, just waiting to be cleaned, labeled, and packaged so that they can be recycled and put to great use!

Mitsy Kit partners with the Lowell Lions Club to help process donated eyeglasses in our 99 Church street location. We have a simple machine that can be operated by one person at a time to read the eyeglass strength, and a simple process to wash and dry the glasses before packaging with strength labels.

This is a great opportunity for an easy but highly impactful activity that could be done with adults and children together as a great community service activity. Scheduling is flexible, done at your convenience during the timeframes listed below. Please contact me to let me know your schedule availability and get started right away to help change lives for the better. You can make a difference across the globe!

Mission Statement

We help to connect lives and create memories with accessible, quality craft activities.

Description

Mitsy kit was initially developed to help the blind and visually impaired to find joy and purpose through the activity of sewing and quilting by touch, using our patented tactile sewing system and method of use. We soon realized that many others, in addition to the blind, benefited from our kits to re-engage in meaningful activities. This prompted provision of our kits and services to support a broader community including those with memory impairment, autism, aphasia, traumatic brain injury, and other seniors and children with or without physical or cognitive disability.

Organizations served include Centers for the blind and low vision, Senior Centers and Council On Aging, Nursing Homes and Assisted Living, and Dementia residential care facilities, as well as activity programs for the disabled.

Although our current products are sewing and quilting focused, we are committed in the long term to designing new kits to meet the needs of the diverse population we serve.
