ORGANIZATION: Friends of Five Creeks

With beach wildflowers in bloom and shorebirds returning, join Friends of Five Creeks volunteers 10 AM - 12:30 PM Sat., Sept. 14, in the "Brickyard" Bay shore area south of University Avenue, Berkeley. We’ll remove trash and invasives, helping ready this still-fenced part of McLaughlin Eastshore State Park for opening.

All ages welcome! We supply gloves, snacks, tools, and good company. Bring a re-usable water bottle. Weather at the Bay can change quickly -- come prepared for sun, fog, wind, or all three! We recommend long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toed shoes with good traction. Groups of five or more please RSVP to f5creeks@gmail.com. Otherwise, just show up!

Meet at the south end of Sea Breeze Deli parking lot, 598 University, just west of the Bay Trail and the west end of the pedestrian-bicycle bridge over I-80. Map here:

Easy by foot or bicycle on the Bay Trail or by AC Transit 51B. We enter this fenced area as a group -- please try to be on time! Questions? Please email f5creeks@gmail.com.

Mission Statement

Friends of Five Creeks is an all-volunteer organization founded in 1996, working hands-on to protect and restore creeks, watersheds, and nature in Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito, and south Richmond, on the east shore of San Francisco Bay.

Description

Besides frequent volunteer events, for the general public and for school, religious, business, or other groups, we lead walks, host free Bay Currents talks on nature and environment, publish a monthly e-newsletter on Bay Area environmental news, and advocate for political action on creek and watershed issues.
