Are you angered or saddened when you see litter threatening the health of the plants and animals that call the Preserves home? Channel those negative emotions and do something positive! Rally your friends and family members and come out to the Busse Boating Center for our first targeted shoreline cleanup on Saturday, October 7 th from 9am to noon.
Volunteer as an individual or form a team and tackle the trash that accumulates along the shoreline, posing a hazard to birds and aquatic animals including frogs and fish.
Litter is a serious problem, but the cleanup will be fun. Forest Preserve Staff will work to deploy groups to different sections of the Busse Reservoir shoreline. Compete with fellow volunteers to see who can collect the most trash. Prizes will be awarded for the largest team and for the heaviest bag of trash. Get photographed with your weirdest piece of litter-one person’s trash might be your "Catch of the Day". All participants earn serious bragging rights.
Trash grabbers, gloves and bags and refreshments will be provided. Wearing rubber boots is highly encouraged. Please register in advance.

Description
The Forest Preserve District of Cook County, with more than 69,000-acres, is the largest forest preserve district in the United States. It receives an estimated 40 million visits each year, providing an escape into a world teeming with wildlife and rich with outdoor recreation and environmental education opportunities.
