POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Operations & Finance Manager (volunteer position) will engage in multiple tasks across the organization, working closely with senior-level staff in both the United States and in Tanzania. The Manager will assume operational responsibility for the implementation of keys aspects of the Center, primarily the management of administrative and financial processes in the Tanzania office. Our ideal candidate has at least 3-5 years experience in a similar position at an international NGO, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, possesses excellent writing skills, communicates clearly, has energy and passion for our mission and looks forward to growing Dageno’s impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS JOB INCLUDE

Oversee the planning and implementation of the Dageno's mission: set work plans, oversee programming implementation, and liaison with senior-level in-country and US-based staff and assess opportunities for growth. Sample tasks include:

  • Coordinate program management and timelines in accordance with grant requirements
  • Manage and serve as the main point of contact for Tanzania staff and volunteers
  • Oversee the operating systems and procedures at the Center
  • Develop and maintain relationships with program partners; donors, volunteers, parents, and students

Manage the Center’s program spending, maintain project budgets, cash flow projection and financial recording. Sample tasks include:

  • Establish budgets and manage the Center’s expenses with proper documentation
  • Assist in budget reviews with US-based and in-country senior staff

Manage the Dageno’s Communication and Fundraising efforts. Sample tasks include:

  • Manage Dageno’s monitoring and evaluation systems and data flow for donor reporting requirements and internal review
  • Provide program updates to stakeholders (donors and supporters) concerning current progress/challenges via facebook, website, and donor reports

YOUR SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree a plus
  • Possess excellent English written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate unwavering attention to detail and employ high levels of organization
  • Able to juggle several demanding tasks at one time
  • Command of Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Facebook, and Twitter

YOUR EXPERIENCE...

  • Approximately 3-5 years experience in project management
  • Familiarity with international development, particularly education
  • Be willing to commit to at least 3 months volunteering with Dageno in Karatu, Tanzania.

Located in Karatu, Tanzania, Dageno serves over 140 young women through hands-on interdisciplinary Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) education, leadership and life skills, and experiential entrepreneurship focused program. All students learn and live collaboratively in a safe residential campus.
