Join the Adopt A Stream Foundation as we host the second half of a free two-part Streamkeeper training event for anyone who lives, works, or recreates in the Thornton Creek watershed.
The second part is a Field Training with two date options: Thursday, October 19th or Saturday, October 21st. These all day stream monitoring experiences will begin at 8:30am, a couple miles upstream of the mouth of Thornton Creek at the Meadowbrook Community Center. Later in the day, participants will visit two Thornton Creek streamside locations. Each field training date is limited to 20 participants per session. Participants will be taught how to teach others how to become Streamkeepers and will receive hands-on experience doing the following:
· Monitoring physical and biological conditions of Thornton Creek
· Monitoring water quality
· Monitoring stream flow
· Presenting findings to audiences ranging from next-door neighbors to the City Council
Everyone who completes both the introductory and field training events will receive a free copy of the Streamkeeper’s Field Guide: Watershed Inventory and Stream Monitoring Methods. In addition, those who represent a college, school, or community group in the Thornton Creek watershed will be entered into a raffle to win biological and water quality monitoring equipment that will help with long-term Streamkeeper efforts.
Registration is required by calling 425-316-8592 or emailing ashleya@streamkeeper.org.

Description
The Adopt A Stream Foundation (AASF) carries out its mission by conducting Streamkeeper Academy programs, producing environmental education materials, and providing local communities with stream and wetland restoration technical assistance. AASF headquarters are located on a 20 acre site in Snohomish County's McCollum Park. This location is also home to the Northwest Stream Center, an environmental learning facility with a nature store, trout stream exhibit and a 1/2 mile long elevated nature trail that winds through and over wetlands, dense forest, and two salmon streams. The Adopt A Stream Foundation always welcomes help from volunteers in several areas, including: fund raising, membership services, administrative duties, staffing for the gate house and nature store, plant yard and grounds maintenance, Streamkeeper Academy teaching assistance, and stream and wetland restoration project assistance.
