***Now recruiting volunteers for our next Almost Home class starting in January in POTTSTOWN***

The Almost Home Junior Program Facilitator will lead programming for up to eight children ranging in age from 1 year to 15 years old (there will always be at least two facilitators in the room). Facilitators will lead fun project based learning activities with the children and act as role models for the children. Almost Home Junior is a new opportunity for Habitat volunteers to work directly with our young community members and positively engage them in fun and educational activities.

Almost Home Junior will run for two hours while the parents of the children attend Almost Home (a financial empowerment course). Almost Home Junior will take place twice a week for 8 weeks, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

Good match for: young adults pursuing careers in education, retired educators, groups, organizations, community members

Mission Statement

We bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. We envision a world in which everyone has a decent place to live.

Description

Habitat MontDelco offers affordable home mortgages to qualified and hardworking families throughout Montgomery and Delaware Counties. Habitat builds, rehabilitates, and sells decent, affordable houses alongside qualified home-buyers from their first inquiry to settlement and beyond. Habitat houses are not given away; they are sold to partner families at no profit and with a low-interest mortgage. Each Partner Family must complete up to 200 hours of "sweat equity." This includes construction work on homes and financial literacy classes and working in one of our ReStores or in the office. Sweat equity hours must be completed before purchasing a home. All homebuyers are required to attend our Almost Home program of 40 classroom hours and one-on-one time with a financial coach. This program teaches crucial financial literacy skills to ensure that families can afford their mortgages and weather future financial challenges.
