DESCRIPTION

Volunteer will assist with maintaining and organizing the Tool Library. The Tool Library covers equipment from gardening tools, home improvement and DIY tools, to specialized craft tools and kits. Items are loaned out to Broomfield residents for designated loan periods. Volunteer will check items in and out of circulation, manage inventory, check condition of items and provide basic instruction as needed.

All volunteer times occur at 6 Garden Center and training will be provided. Volunteer will work with computer inventory, check condition of items and provide basic instruction as needed.

Volunteer must be qualified and able to commit to a set schedule. Volunteer should enjoy working with the public, including students of all ages, families, and adults.

TIME COMMITMENT AND SCHEDULE

Volunteer must make a minimum of a three (3) month commitment. Open hours are generally:

  • Weekdays (T,W,TH,F) 4:00 - 8:30pm
  • Weekdays (TBD) 11:30am - 1:30pm
  • Saturdays 9:00am - 5:00pm
  • Sundays 1:00pm-5:00pm

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work within specific program guidelines as stated above. Follow direction from library staff on planned activities and availability and use of equipment and resources. Notify coordinator of any changes in time or schedule. Record your own volunteer hours and provide feedback about each session in a Google Docs spreadsheet.

TRAINING, SUPERVISION, AND SUPPORT

Library staff will communicate with volunteers via email or phone and will be working alongside or supervising volunteers during each shift.

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge and experience with a variety of hands tools and crafting tools, interest, patience and ability to teach and work with all ages. Volunteer application and Disclosure Form background check are required as well as a resume or statement showing qualifications in these subject areas. An interview will be conducted. The applicant must be at least 18 years of age and must pass the background check prior to assignment.
