The Fleet has an exciting program to take science out of labs and offices and into the community!
It is called Two Scientists Walk into a Bar and it is literally just that!
This program is an organic experiment to take science into the least expected place- a bar! Four times a year the Fleet places 2 scientists at 25 different bars all over San Diego county. This requires a little fun and flexibility. Sometimes you don't know what you are going to get asked, and you certainly are not expected to have an answer to everything. The point is to take science into the community and spark conversations, ideas and share the science.

Interested applicants will be asked to attend one Open House to learn more about the Fleet and the volunteer program. They will also submit a criminal/ sex offender background check.
The next Two Scientist Walk into a Bar night will be October 19th, the times vary depending on the bar, but are mainly between 5pm and 9pm.

Description
The Fleet Science Center located in beautiful Balboa Park has the world's first IMAX dome theatre. It hosts many popular permanent gallery exhibitions in addition to exciting traveling exhibits from all over the nation.
As a hands-on science center, the Fleet encourages visitors to "Touch!" the exhibits, which teach a variety of scientific principles in an interactive manner to provide a unique learning experience for all ages.
The Fleet Science Center boasts an excellent education department that presents a series of workshops, lectures and classes for children and adults of all ages.
