The SoulDeevas Organization is seeking to develop its inaugural Stomp & Shake Team for girls and is looking to develop its coaching staff.
Stomp & shake cheerleading focuses on the group performance of choreographed percussive, rhythmic foot stomping, (individual) hand clapping, leg lifts, and African American/Caribbean originated dance moves. It is prevalent mostly in the South, but we are looking to establish teams and eventually a league in the Northeast.
The Stomp & Shake team will train for local performances, local/national competitions, sporting events, field shows and parades and will include girls ages 10 to 17. As of this time, we envision the team practicing once a week on Saturdays (2 hour time slot) or during after-school hours once a week (4pm to 6pm) in Manhattan. The practice start date, practice day and time will depend largely on the schedule of the selected coach(es).
Coaches who evidence commitment to the team will be eligible for a stipend in six months. We will be holding a staff orientation on Friday, October 27th from 6pm to 7:30pm. The meeting will be held in midtown, Manhattan.
Interested candidates are asked to send a cover letter which fully outlines their stomp and shake team experience.

Friends of MJHS ("Friends") is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of generating contributions, pledges and funds for the development and ongoing support of Citadel Academy Prep School (CAPS), a school that will provide students in grades 6-8 with a high quality Christian education through a well balanced, yet challenging curriculum that ministers to the spirit, soul and body.
Friends will also provide funds, management and ongoing support of The SoulDeevas Performing Arts Company, a character building sports and arts program that will serve all youth regardless of their religious affiliation. The SoulDeevas will include programs that provide activities, resources and support during critical out-of-school time hours in a safe, nurturing environment that works from a strengths-based, youth development perspective.
