Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation is looking for volunteers to help us with a tree planting this Saturday September 23rd 9am-1pm at Founders Park. This project with the support of volunteers will consist of planting young saplings (whips) of native tree species around the perimeter of Founders Park. Holiday World has donated 1000+ trees to be planted at Founders as part of their company goal of giving back to the environment as many trees as they use in the parks (for their wooden roller coasters!) With the large amount of saplings to plant you are going to be the ones that makes the magic happen, and transform Founders Park. These are very small trees and do not take much to put in the ground, using a spade volunteers will create a small hole in which to plant the trees. While volunteers are planting, we will also have other volunteers watering the newly planted trees. This is a crucial part of the process, and can be the difference on the how well the trees will survive in the future. There will be a variety of smaller tasks that need to be completed, but the main goal of this project is plant, plant, and plant some more! If interested please create a profile online at http://carmelclayparks.com/volunteer/ and register for the project, or email Rachael Fleck Volunteer Coordinator at rfleck@carmelclayparks.com.
