Volunteer with GrowNYC's Zero Waste Programs to promote organics diversion for composting in New York City. Every Tuesday, food scraps are collected from neighborhood residents at the Bowling Green Greenmarket and transported by cart to Battery Maritime Building so a local compost site can process it.Volunteers are needed to help the Compost Coordinator manage this busy food scrap drop-off by assisting with outreach, explanation, and transport food scraps by a cart to Battery Maritime Building. It is a fossil fuel free way to transport the food scraps! No experience necessary, just bring a positive attitude and enthusiasm for waste diversion and recycling. This event is outdoors and takes place rain or shine, so please dress for the weather.
