Assist our Southwest Detroit neighbors in "shopping" for food at the Mercado client Choice food pantry. Maintain a clean and welcoming pantry environment, while helping clients check in, select their own food and schedule their next appointment.
Some lifting required (up to 20 lbs), bending, twisting, reaching and standing/moving through the pantry for the duration of the volunteer shift.
Shirts are Mondays 9am-1:30pm, Wednesdays 1:30pm-5:30pm, and Saturdays 9am-1:30pm
Looking for volunteers with good people skills, friendly attitude, willingness to help pantry clients, bilingual English-Spanish is a plus
Training will take place on site.

For more than 40 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been "feeding hungry people and nourishing our communities." Last year, Gleaners distributed 42 million pounds of emergency food to 499 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe counties.
Of every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 97 cents for food and food programs. One dollar provides three meals for a hungry neighbor.
