Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower youth of color to heal from trauma from systemic oppression.

Description

We provide personalized, on-demand mental health coaching over text message to high school students impacted by trauma from poverty, violence, mass incarceration, and systemic oppression. Our coaches check in with youth daily - reaching them before, during, and after moments of crisis. Our coaches guide students in building positive coping skills rooted in evidence-based practices such as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness.

" Everyone goes through stuff, and some people shut down like I would have. [MindRight] helps me get back up again. " - MindRight user, Newark, NJ

We have served 90 students since our launch in 2016 by partnering with schools and nonprofits in Washington, DC, Camden, NJ, Newark, NJ, and Philadelphia, PA. Our work is guided by clinical advisors at the Stanford Lucile Packard Hospital and the USC School of Social Work. Through our service, we're making mental health support accessible to the 20 million children living in poverty in the U.S.
