Position Overview - What You Will Give:The LearningWorks AIMS HIGH program is seeking AmeriCorps members who believe in the power of education and who are committed to helping children thrive. Our dedicated team serves in elementary schools in Portland, Biddeford, Windham, and Saco in Southern Maine. Our members support students’ academic, social, and emotional development by:
Tutoring and mentoring students one-on-one
Instructing small groups of students
Supporting teachers in the classroom
Engaging families and the community
Leading extended learning opportunities, like afterschool clubs and summer day camps
LearningWorks AIMS HIGH has full-time, half-time, and minimum-time opportunities available. (Application deadlines below)
What You Will Gain:AIMS HIGH members receive training in academic instruction, classroom management, and community building, so prior experience in education is not required. Members should demonstrate a willingness to learn and a desire to help children reach their full potential. In addition, members will gain hands-on, meaningful experience and grow their leadership abilities, all while making a positive impact in their community.
Full- and half-time members receive a living stipend, and all members are eligible for an education award upon successful completion of service as well as loan forbearance during the time of service. In addition, full-time members receive ACA-compliant health insurance and are eligible for an AmeriCorps Child Care Benefit. Qualifications:Be at least 17 years of age at the time of enrollment
Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
Have a high school diploma or high school equivalency (current high school students 17 years or older are also eligible)

Application Deadlines:Minimum-time applications to serve during the summer are being accepted through until June 15, 2018. Full-, half-, and minimum-time applications for the 2018-2019 academic year are open now and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.

Description
LearningWorks is a dynamic community-based organization. We started in 1967 as a grassroots neighborhood advocacy movement to protect the working people of the west end and never stopped moving forward with the community. Today LearningWorks is a social service agency that serves people all over Androscoggin, York, and Cumberland counties. We serve young children, at-risk youth, and low-income families in variety of educational capacities. Volunteers are an integral part of meeting our commitment to providing high quality, individualized learning opportunies to those who have not had access to them.
