The holiday season is fast approaching and there are many families in Rochester who will be unable to celebrate in the comfort and abundance that we often take for granted. Dimitri House is committed to providing food baskets to those in need and you can help in spreading the spirit of Thanksgiving by adopting a family to feed.

For the last few years, we have utilized an Adopt-a-Family approach that matches donors up with one of the families that have requested a food basket. This program allows donors to customize the food basket and be as creative as they'd like with its presentation. Donors have the option to deliver their basket directly to their adopted family or they may drop it off at Dimitri House we will arrange for it be picked up.

Our expectation is that the food basket includes all of the ingredients for a nutritious Thanksgiving meal and that some attention be given to ethnic food preferences. We will provide a list of items with you donor confirmation, or you can also contact your adopted family directly to learn more about their needs.

If you're part of an organization that is looking to participate in a charitable holiday program, this is a great opportunity to get involved and connect with families in our community who need a little extra love and support. You might even consider coordinating this program for your office/organization, collecting supplies, and then hosting a fun basket making party for everyone to participate in. You can adopt as many families as you'd like! Baskets will have to be packed and dropped off to Dimitri House between November 14 and 16 or they can be delivered directly to your adopted family, preferably by November 21. More details will be provided in your confirmation letter.
