Guitar lesson
Lots of people of all ages go through our doors each week for music instruction.

We are looking for people to help staff our reception desk. If you like chatting with new people you would enjoy this job. And you should also like hearing music!

An important part of this job is answering questions and collecting contact information. We'll train you and provide you with resources to find answers to questions people may ask.

Your post would be in a nice sunny room in downtown Urbana; lots of people pass by and often stop in and ask about our school. Our students coming in for lessons would also like someone to answer their questions, deliver messages, or accept payments. We often have art shows and people also like to wander in to see the exhibits.

There are other tasks you can do when no one is visiting, or you can use the computer, do your homework, or bring your reading, knitting, or other projects you like to work on.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to strengthen and build community through shared experiences in music and performing arts education and performance.

Description

We are mostly a community music school with a faculty of about 2 dozen teaching artists who give lots of lessons, and a small administrative staff. Our distinguishing feature is the emphasis we place on building community through music, and the impressive range of styles we can teach. We offer teaching ensembles for all ages and skill levels in a variety of music styles including roots, rock, jazz, and international music; our music groups help our students learn to play music together, and work toward a common goal, and express themselves as musicians. Embracing volunteers to help with our work is an important part of our community building effort, and we invite you to learn more about us.
