The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. In order to give quality services to children with disabilities and other vulnerable children, there is need to involve as much as possible their caregivers;and in this regard the mothers and or guardians. AICOD works with 14 Mama groups that comprise atleast 15 women up words. These women are taught how to give good care for their children like in nutrition, health care, dressing, sanitation, and also how to involve their children in houseld activities. Women are are encourage to save with their groups so that the groups have funds to meet the needs of their children for example school fees, medical care. There is need to train these women in modern way of farming, nutrition and hygiene, child rights, how to start and manage income generating projects and also group dynamics. Also women need to be counseled as most of them face domestic violence.
Volunteers are needed to work with these groups on a regular basis.
