Volunteer Pilot Chesapeake

Are you a pilot interested in protecting Coastal North Carolina?

SouthWings arranges flights to uncover and mitigate environmental challenges related to climate change and watershed protection. We welcome a broad range of stakeholders to see firsthand the scope and scale of issues such as sea level rise, water pollution, community vulnerability, deforestation, and mountaintop removal coal mining. Our flights shape perspectives on the actions needed to stop and reverse these problems. We fly to hold polluters accountable and to promote environmental policy and planning, scientific research, public awareness and action, and protection.

If you hold at least a private pilot certification with 750 hours PIC and own or have access to an aircraft, you can be a volunteer pilot for SouthWings.

Join our many volunteer pilots around the Southeast to support a healthy environment for future generations, work with interesting people from many different fields, learn about conservation issues in your area, and fly community members, national and local news media, documentary filmmakers, and elected officials.
