Greeters and Preparers For Early 2017
We are having a Meet and Greet/Information Session November 2, 6-7p at the Carr Center. 201 S 5th Street, Easley, SC 29640
The United Way of Pickens County is looking for volunteers to staff our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites around Pickens County. Volunteers interested in helping their neighbors save on tax preparation fees and get the most from their tax refunds should contact James Nestell at 864-850-7094, ext. 131 or by email at jnestell@uwpickens.org. We are looking for greeters and tax preparers.
For more details go to volunteer.uwpickens.org. No experience is necessary. All volunteers will become IRS Certified Tax Preparers for free. Training begins in January 2018. Tax preparation will begin in late-January, early-February 2018. We ask that you’re willing to donate at least 3-5 hours a week for the duration of tax season. Tax preparation sites will be in Liberty, Central, Easley, and Pickens.
We help our customers an average of $910.29 in tax refunds they were owed by the IRS. This can have a significant impact on the quality of life of some individuals and families. This is also a great opportunity for accounting and financial management students to get experience in tax preparation and in working with the general public on financial matters. The IRS certification also counts towards continuing education credits for accountants and financial managers already working in the field. This is a chance give to back to your community while receiving valuable work experience.
