Project Schoolhouse is an international nonprofit that focuses on education, clean water, and sanitation in rural Nicaragua communities.

We are hosting a Fundraising Dinner and Film Screening. The help we need from volunteers does not require any special skills. We need help in 3 categories:

Setup 3:30-6:30pm- set up for the event: tables, chairs, table coverings, paraphernalia, etc

Waiter 6-9pm - set up, reception, traffic control, food service

Clean 7-10pm - final food service, breakdown event, variety of tasks

Description

Through investment in schools, students, and communities, Project Schoolhouse helps rural communities in Nicaragua better advocate for themselves in changing regional economies and political systems. With an emphasis on community-building and local volunteer participation, Project Schoolhouse partners with recipient communities to build new schools, provide clean water, improve sanitation, and help students continue their educations.

Improving the quality of children’s education in rural communities is ever more important as rates of urbanization increase, global economic forces continually squeeze rural producers, and the growing technological requirements of doing business reach into the more remote regions of the world. Literacy and basic education are not luxuries, but represent crucial skills rural communities need in order to adequately advocate for themselves in changing economic and political environments.
