Animal Guardians Horse Rescue, Inc. is actively recruiting Direct Horse Care Volunteers to work with senior horses & mules with special needs in Simi Valley, CA. We need volunteers to groom equines, clean hooves, clean stalls & paddocks, bathe equines, provide blanket & fly care, treat wounds with first aid, halter, tie, and provide light exercise by walking and doing ground work with equines, help with photography & videography outreach, participate in ongoing professional development training, assist with holding equines for veterinary & farrier appointments, assist with loading & transport of horses, and help promote horses for adoption and sponsorship opportunities. We also need Direct Horse Care Volunteers to assist with community outreach events, to help handle horses that we may take with us to events in large crowds to promote adoptions and sponsorship / donor opportunities. Must be 18 years or older, with horse handling experience. Horses are located at multiple sites in Simi Valley, CA, only and this volunteer opportunity requires your own transportation between foster care sites (fuel and mileage is tax-deductible upon request).This opportunity also includes participation in regular experiential learning trainings, various community outreach events, and fundraiser special events.

Animal Guardians Horse Rescue, Inc. provides sanctuary to local senior equines in need, while connecting our Southern California community through purpose and service.

Description

We are a small 501(c)3 public non-profit organization for equine sanctuary and community service in Simi Valley, CA. All equines are fostered and boarded privately locally. We are a member of The Homes For Horses Coalition, the HSUS Safe Stalls Network, the HSUS Fund For Animals Forever Foundation Training Program, the ASPCA Horse Action Team, & a Parelli Foundation Grant Recipient. We are an Adoptions Partner with Ventura, L.A., Santa Barbara, San Bernadino County Animal Services / ACC. We are beginning a new EAL Program called Horse Powered Reading for summer enrichment for youth in our community.
