ORGANIZATION: The Wellbeing Initiative Inc.

The Orchard, a Wellbeing Initiative program, strives to connect individuals with mental health challenges to a community that empowers recovery. It is an incredibly exceptional opportunity for people who struggle with mental health challenges to create genuine connections with others who have shared experiences.

The Orchard is the gateway to a wealth of community resources as well as to the other activities, trainings, and support groups offered through Wellbeing Initiative.

Currently we are looking for individuals to help co-facilitate certain Support Groups. We are looking for a co-facilitator in the following groups (also included is the date/time they meet):

  • Women's Support Group (Fridays 2:00pm - 3:00pm)
  • NAMI Connections, this requires a certificate from NAMI (Tuesdays 2:00pm - 3:00pm)
  • PTSD & Veterans Support Group (Saturdays 2:00pm - 3:00pm)

We are looking for 2 Co-Facilitators to re spark both creative writing and LGBTQ+ Support Groups.

Requirements are must be 19 or older, have lived experience, been a volunteer at The Orchard for 3 months or provide 3 references, and pass a CPS/APS background check. Pass a facilitator's training course provided by The Orchard.

The Values Philosophy of Wellbeing Initiaitve is based in the belief that a well-informed, adequately supported, and purpose-driven community of peers will result in a higher quality of life, greater independance, and more effective use of professional services. Wellbeing Initiative is striving to provide alternatives to higher levels of care, fight stigma, address institutionalize thinking and language, and promote self-advocacy.

Description

The Orchard is a program of The Wellbeing Iniative and is peer run non-profit organization located in the downtown area of Lincoln, NE. Membership is for anyone who struggles, or has struggled with a mental health challenge, trauma, or substance abuse. We are a community of people facing mental health challenges that can come connect with others who have had similar experiences in a recovery focused enviornment. We help to connect those who need help to an agency that can help. We offer free coffee, peer support, and a safe place to be without being labeled or judged.
