About Solstice Initiative
Location:
50 Foskett St, Unit 2, Somerville, MA 02144, US
Mission Statement
Putting solar power within reach of every person in the United States, especially the renters and low-income households that are currently shut out of the market.
Description
Solstice Initiative is the first provider of community-based solar energy to underserved Americans.
Problem:
Solar has the potential to power neighborhoods across the United States, but 80% of American households are effectively locked out of the market. Those who rent their homes, are low-income, have inadequate credit, or possess a non-optimal roof need an affordable and accessible solution.
Solution:
With our help, community-shared solar power is poised to offer a solution for these households. Community solar allows households to purchase and benefit from a portion of an offsite solar farm in their neighborhood.
Solstice will eventually finance, build, and sell community-based solar to the 45 million lower-income Americans who rent their homes. This model enables any household to enjoy clean energy at no upfront cost and save money on their electric bill every month.
