The Washington Council of the Blind is holding our annual state convention in Pasco the weekend of October 26-29. 200 attendees, most of whom are legally blind, will be participating in plenary sessions, meal functions, exhibits, and more. For most, this will be their first time at this hotel. Orienting can be a challenge, and we don't want that to be a deterrent. Sighted buides will work 2-3 hour shifts, and be available to assist individuals to the public restroom, restaurant or coffee bar, elevator, relieving area for guide dogs,a vacant seat at meals or in sessions, through the exhibits hall, etc. All assistance takes place in public areas of the hotel. This is a great community project for schools, civic clubs, families, or even the workplace.
