JerseySTEM is an all volunteers grassroots non-profit agency dedicated to bridging the Innovation Gap, the Opportunity Gap and the Gender Gap in STEM education. We provide free of charge after-school, project-based, hands-on, team structured programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to underserved students in New Jersey. Classes include: Robotics, Coding, Engineering, Life Sciences, etc. and are focused on children grades 5-8.
We are seeking volunteers for a Corporate Engagement Manager.
Position Purpose
The Corporate Engagement Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of a strategic corporate engagement to establish, sustain and deepen mutually beneficial partnerships between JerseySTEM and New Jersey-based companies.
The position reports to the Director, Corporate Engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifies and researches current and potential corporate sponsors, including new prospects and existing clients. Cultivates a portfolio of ~4-6 qualified prospects
- Develops, implements and periodically reassesses corporate engagement strategies for each corporate sponsor
- Initiates, develops and maintains relationships with corporate sponsors to build engagement partnerships, customized projects and sponsorship packages.
- Expands partnerships by conducting research, tracking relevant news, and staying abreast of organizational changes as they relate to our service offerings
- Writes compelling proposals and letters, and prepares background information and materials for cultivation and solicitation activities, as needed. Develops customized proposals as appropriate for major donors/prospects
- Partners with Director, Corporate Engagement, team members and other volunteer leaders in making corporate solicitations and presentations about JerseySTEM
- Conducts research and tracks relevant news to identify new and emerging prospects
- Assures timely and satisfactory implementation of specific programs and activities for relevant corporate sponsors

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to corporate sponsors
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Ability to develop strategy, as well as solicit prospects
- Ability to prepare and conduct presentations in a corporate setting; strong facilitation skills
- Ability to influence without authority to all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage, network, train, direct and motivate volunteers
- Ability to plan, analyze, translate and implement developed plans
- Strong analytical capabilities, including use of applications/data to make recommendations and provide input to corporate account planning
- Strong project management skills
- Exhibits professionalism, maturity, good judgment, and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Google suite of products and/or Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, CRM systems (e.g., salesforce), social media and internet research, Linkedin
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Success career in a corporate setting
- Prior sales experience and/or successful corporate and/or foundation fundraising experience preferred
- Accreditation in fundraising (CFRE) a plus
- Some prior project management experience a plus

JerseySTEM is a grassroots 501(c) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math ("STEM") education to girls grade 5-8 from underserved communities in New Jersey. We partner with socially responsible companies and their employees, youth organizations in underserved communities, and civic-minded college students and universities. Together we develop and deliver innovative, hands-on, and online afterschool projects and inquiry-based learning opportunities that develop teamwork, 21st-century problem-solving skills, and self-esteem.
Description
Incorporated in 2013, JerseySTEM started bringing afterschool enrichment programs to middle school girls in 2015.
We have since provided 1,000 students with exposure to afterschool enrichment programs delivering more than 20,000 hours of instruction. Students learn to code, build robots, solve problems and through that process gain self-esteem and confidence that they can be the leaders of tomorrow.
