Volunteer Grant Writer - Position Description

Position Title: Volunteer Grant Writer Organization: Talented Girls in Action (TGIA) Location: [Remote/Virtual or specify location if in-person]

About Talented Girls in Action (TGIA): Talented Girls in Action is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting girls in low-income areas. Our mission is to provide girls with access to education, mentorship, and resources to help them develop their talents, achieve their goals, and become leaders in their communities.

Position Overview: The Volunteer Grant Writer plays a critical role in supporting TGIA's mission by identifying and securing funding opportunities through grant applications. This position is ideal for an individual with excellent writing skills, a strong understanding of nonprofit grant writing, and a passion for empowering girls from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Grant Research: Conduct in-depth research to identify potential grant opportunities from various foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with TGIA's mission and programs.

  2. Grant Writing: Prepare compelling grant proposals, applications, and fundraising materials to seek financial support for TGIA's programs and initiatives. Ensure that grant applications are submitted in a timely manner.

  3. Collaboration: Work closely with TGIA's leadership team and program managers to gather information, data, and insights necessary for grant applications. Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to enhance the quality of grant proposals.

  4. Grant Reporting: Assist in preparing grant progress reports and updates for funders as required by grant agreements.

  5. Grant Management: Keep track of grant applications, deadlines, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with grant funding regulations.

  6. Research and Stay Updated: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant writing and fundraising for non-profit organizations. Continually seek opportunities for funding and partnerships.

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing skills with the ability to create persuasive and compelling grant proposals.
  • Experience in grant writing, particularly in the nonprofit sector, is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent research skills to identify relevant funding opportunities and understand funder requirements.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with TGIA's team and other volunteers.
  • Commitment to TGIA's mission and a passion for promoting gender equity and education.

Time Commitment: The time commitment for this volunteer position is flexible and can be tailored to fit the volunteer's schedule. However, we expect a commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per week, depending on grant opportunities and deadlines.

Talented Girls In Action is a 501(c) nonprofit organization that exist to advance the next generation of young girls to operate at a standard of excellence in every aspect of their lives, by unlocking their unique potential as well as forming a life long passion for education. TGIA will incorporate discipline, integrity and acts of service into the curriculum to assist girls as they matriculate into the next chapter of their lives.

Description

Talented Girls In Action is an after school program that exist to advance the next generation of young girls through a multifaceted curriculum, mentor-ship, individualized tutoring and enrichment opportunities.

We serve girls from the ages of 12 to 18 that come from disadvantage backgrounds. Our main initiative to encourage girls to come into confident possession of their own unique talents by transforming their underprivileged mindset and providing a new outlook into their academic future.

Many young girls are dealing with very challenging socio-economic issues that inhibit them from finding positive outlets for their time and energy.

Through TGIA young girls will be able to discuss their problems in a safe and nurturing environment where viable solution are provided for them to pursue. All the while developing a positive outlook for their futures and their self image.
