The Howard Area Reading Program (HARP) provides tutoring after school for 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders at Gale Elementary School to improve their reading skills and boost their confidence. Tutors are assigned one student for the program year, which begins in October and ends the third week of May. The program provides free training to all incoming tutors and ongoing support, including lesson plans, during the year. Tutoring sessions with 3rd and 4th graders are held Monday and Wednesday; with 2nd graders on Tuesday and Thursday. Tutors can expect to be on site from 3:10 - 4:30. Candidates must have a love of reading and be willing to commit to their student for the entire school year.
