The Employment Program Intern will assist LSS-SW Refugee Services Early Employment Program (Matching Grant Program) to assist recently arrived refugees on their path to self-sufficiency in the United States.
Duties and responsibilities
- Support Matching Grant Coordinator in facilitating MG client orientation and enrollment
- Assist with managing financial expenditures, tracking cash and in-kind donations
- Assist with completing monthly reports and documentation of information in case files
- Complete program reporting requirements as needed for contract compliance
- Monitor progress of employment plan for all new refugee arrivals and note any consultation or services provided to the client
- Assist with coordinating financial literacy classes, employment related orientations, workshops
- Assist with coordinating the employment mentor program
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Detail orientated, organized, flexible individual
- Cross-cultural communication skills
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Preferred: ability to speak French, Arabic, Swahili, Somali, Amharic, Tigrinya, Kinyarwanda, Farsi
Clearances & Training Required
Several weeks of training will be provided to learn about Match Grant, daily operations, and tasks required. The Intern will shadow the Match Grant Coordinator until able to complete tasks on their own. This role requires a minimum of 10-12 hours per week. This role requires a fingerprint clearance card. The volunteer is responsible for the cost of the fingerprint clearance card.
