TheIntergenerational Schools have small, multi-age classes that allow children to learn and teach alongside older adults who serve as learning partners.
Each of our 750 students work side-by-side with learning partners, where they exchange ideas, build friendships and share a love of reading. Together, we’re building a community that reaches far beyond our school walls and children’s elementary years.
Volunteers typically dedicate one hour per week to work with an assigned class on reading or math. Volunteers can request to work with younger elementary, upper elementary, or middle school aged students.

Mission Statement
The Intergenerational School fosters an educational community of excellence that provides experiences and skills for lifelong learning and spirited citizenship for learners of all ages.
Description
The Intergenerational School (TIS) is a charter school located in the Buckeye-Shaker neighborhood. We have seven multi age classrooms that are based on individual learning needs. This way students can learn in their own way and at their own pace. Another large part of our curriculum is integrating the exchange of older adult understanding and daily life connections to people and places in our community. All members of our community provide a rich experience for TIS students.
