Volunteer/Intern Position: Social Media Intern
Department: Fund Development

SUMMARY

The YWCA Pierce County seeks a creative Social Media Intern with a passion for ending domestic violence, and advancing social justice and dignity for all. The Social Media Intern will have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to the YWCA’s social media plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write and curate inspiring, yet engaging content on the YWCA’s social media outlets, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Stay up to date on trending topics on social media platforms
  • Assist the Communications and Marketing Coordinator and Fund Development Director in strategizing how the YWCA can join social media discourses and campaigns
  • Brainstorm ideas for future content
  • Test and analyze social media content

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Passion for individuals, families and community members affected by domestic violence
  • Firm understanding of the basic tenets of feminism, women’s issues, and racial equity
  • Ability to read, interpret and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data
  • Knowledge of current social media trends and platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Understanding of how to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a diverse team of staff and volunteers; communicates well across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent time management skills; detail orientated, and efficient
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission, vision and values of the YWCA Pierce County

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Acceptable Washington State Patrol Criminal History Record
  • Attend the YWCA’s Domestic Violence 101

COMMITMENT
Candidate must commit to interning for at least 3 months and must be available for 5-10 hours a week. Candidate will work from the YWCA Pierce County administrative offices during business hours, with a pre-arranged schedule

Support from community members via volunteers and donations helps the YWCA Pierce County support our clients in creating lives free of violence, and able to thrive.
