Literacy Connections is looking for people who love books and who want to share the gift of reading and writing with an adult learner. No previous teaching experience is necessary. New volunteers are required to attend a free Orientation session, after which they will complete the online training module, which can be adapted to fit most schedules.
Our next Orientation Session will be held at the Mountain Top Library, 6093 Main Street, Tannersville, NY on Friday, October 5 th from 4-6 pm. The follow-up session is scheduled for Friday, November 3 rd, from 4-6 pm at the same location or by one-on-one appointment. At the Orientation session you will learn about the difference between Basic Reading and teaching English as a Second Language. You will also learn more about Literacy Connections, other volunteer opportunities, and receive your login information to begin the online tutor training module.
You can sign up for the Tutor Training by e-mail to colgreene@literacyconnections.org or by calling 518-828-1792 ext 4. Please provide your name, e-mail address, phone number and area where you would like to volunteer when registering.
