In November 2016, Colorado voters overwhelmingly passed the Colorado End of Life Options Act (EOLOA), which authorized medical aid in dying in the state and gave people suffering from debilitating illness and pain the option to die on their own terms.
However, since the bill passed and was signed, eligible residents of the state have had trouble accessing the law. Health systems are resistant in many cases, and because of the confusion and misinformation being spread by opponents of the law, there are many eligible residents who have not been able to access this option for themselves.
The Colorado Access Campaign works to educate members of the community on the facts of medical aid in dying, teaches them how to prepare their own end of life options, talk to their doctor, interview hospices, and access the law for themselves.
