HopeMatch serves the working poor or those going through temporary challenges in the Greater Charlotte, NC area. We help families that may be overlooked or forgotten. Families are nominated by members in the community to receive assistance from our holiday program. We match up those families with people who want to shop to provide a personalized Christmas for them. We wrap and deliver the gifts before Christmas.
The Phone Team is a virtual opportunity that is flexible, but also time-sensitive. The volunteer is in charge of calling families that we choose to offer holiday assistance and get a detailed wish list from them and input information into a seasonal database that we use. From there, we get those wish lists to the donors that want to help the families.
This position requires compassion, empathy, patience, and strong communication skills. You must have access and be willing to use your own phone and computer. You may make calls from 9am-9pm daily around your schedule, but we do try to have wish lists completed within 48 hours of being assigned a call. We ask volunteers to sign up for at least 2 weeks between 10/6-12/2. There is an in person training for this opportunity on Thursday, 9/21 at 6:30pm. There is a virtual training if you cannot make the in person training the following week in the evening...date TBD.
After Christmas, we like for the Phone Team to stay in contact with the families they've spoken with and help remind them of upcoming events that HopeMatch is doing, as well as providing support and encouragement to those families throughout the year if possible.

HopeMatch is a local charity serving those who are unseen and underserved in the Greater Charlotte, North Carolina area. We started as a Christmas program, but have grown into much more. While our Christmas program of matching local families in need with people who want to provide personalized Christmas gifts and encouragement to their neighbor is still the heart of what we do, we have expanded our services to address the growing needs of the families we serve. Throughout the year, you will find multiple ways to give financially and volunteer, all while making a lasting difference in your community.
