Admin Volunteer

Minnesota Children's Museum is seeking an administrative aid volunteer to assist our Museum Experience department with data entry and other administrative tasks.

Impact

Volunteers that offer administrative support help Minnesota Children's Museum achieve its mission by expanding capacity. Volunteers enhance the quality and amount of work administrative departments are able to do with a given amount of time and resources. The work done by administrative aid volunteers and administrative staff enables visitors to enjoy the Museum, and helps staff that work directly with visitors to spark children’s learning through play.

Responsibilities
  • Complete data entry work as directed, including data regarding budget tracking, visitor data, communications, and injury reports.
  • File records
  • Use printer, photocopier, mail machine, and other standard office equipment as needed to complete assigned projects.
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned
  • Keep a neat and orderly work station
Qualifications
  • Experience typing and inputting information into Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions and ask for assistance/additional explanation as necessary
  • Ability and willing to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Positive attitude and ability to keep time commitments
Training Provided
  • Volunteer Orientation
  • Training as needed for office equipment
  • Assignment Training

Knowledge, Skills and Experience You Can Gain

  • Increase or reinforce knowledge of administrative work in a non-profit setting
  • Gain data entry skills and experience
  • Develop and/or practice skills in working on general administrative projects and tasks
  • Gain and/or build experience working with office equipment
Commitment Expectation/Schedule
  • 6-8 hours per week, approximately September-December 2017. Potential for an ongoing position.
  • Days: Any weekdays, Monday-Friday
  • Frequency: One to two shifts per week
  • Shifts: Any length between 9:00am and 5:00pm
