Our domestic violence and sexual assault emergency shelter provides immediate and ongoing support to survivors. Along with shelter and other resources, the agency offers a 24 hour crisis hotline. Callers on this line may call for a number of reasons: seeking shelter, help with safety planning, looking for community resources or some other form of support and advocacy.
What you can expect as a crisis line volunteer:
-Volunteers assist with overnight coverage and typical shifts run from 5:30pm to 7:30am but can be flexible with your schedule
-Each month you choose dates you are available to cover the crisis line
-Dates you are scheduled a staff member will contact you to hook your phone up to the AVAIL crisis line. You are then unhooked the following morning at the end of your scheduled shift.
-Volunteering on the crisis line requires a background check and specialized crisis line training.

-Fill out an AVAIL volunteer application
-Background check
-Complete crisis line training at AVAIL agency (Antigo, WI)
