ORGANIZATION: Thiebaut Method

​Position summary

​10 Books A Home is looking for volunteer to help its tutors develop lesson plans that build on what their preschool students are intrinsically motivated to learn about (their ILMs). ILM Program Interns will work out of 10BH's main office in East Palo Alto in the Learning Activity Room and will report to ILM Program staff responsible for supporting tutors and parents of the preschoolers. ​

Duties

  1. Assemble learning activity kits that ILM Program staff develop and post photos and videos on 10BH’s online lesson planning community board
  2. Read tutors' lesson reports (reports are submitted once a week) and email tutors lesson planning recommendations based their ILMers’ ILMs (using 10BH's lesson planning resources)
  3. Email tutors who haven't turned in lesson reports to inquire about their ILMers’ ILMs and make lesson planning recommendations
  4. Call/email tutors who have learning activities checked out for more than three weeks to request they return items and make lesson planning recommendations based on their lLMers’ ILMs
  5. Prep learning activity kits for tutor and family events
  6. Prep other kits and materials as needed

Requirements
  1. We're looking for interns who can work in our Learning Activity Room (LAR) three days a week for three hours each day (approx. ten hours a week). In special circumstances we can accommodate two days a week
  2. We would like a four to six month commitment per intern
  3. Shifts available: Monday-Friday, 12:00-6:30 PM
  4. Non-paid. Volunteer based
  5. Must be proficient user of Android and/or iPhone, Google Drive, have a laptop computer and be a fast learner

  2. Skills in individualizing lesson plans based on a child's unique learning motivations
  3. Skills in interpersonal communication skills through supporting tutors in preparing lesson plans
  4. knowledge of the constellation of learning activities suitable for preschool-aged children
  5. knowledge of emergent curriculum design for preschool-aged children
  6. knowledge of ILM methodology (a new education methodology - similar to Montessori and Play-based learning)

ILM Program ​Intern position is suitable for people interested in:

Program Details

  • Students are in grades K-8 and must live or attend school in the Ravenswood School District or be enrolled in the Tinsley Voluntary Transfer Program
  • Student must show proof of struggling in school to qualify for enrollment
  • After school hours: 3-6 PM Monday-Friday
