Sibling Connections works year-round to connect brothers and sisters separated by foster care by hosting monthly Sibling Sunday events. In order to best support our youth, volunteers (ages 21+) are needed to help transport siblings to monthly events around the Boston area. Along with transporting siblings, we are seeking individuals who can attend and create a safe, fun, and supportive environment for youth. All events are led and supervised by our program director. Volunteers are needed to assist our program director and interact directly with youth. Many of our siblings thrive on positive encouragement and role modeling from volunteers. They just want to spend time with their siblings, but often need support to develop positive interactions with their siblings.
Our monthly events mirror typical childhood memories that you may have participated in as a child, such as bowling, pumpkin picking, roller-skating, rock climbing, and more. Our goal is to offer siblings the space to remain connected in one another's lives while creating "normal" childhood activities they can remember forever. Often many of volunteers become a consistent and caring adult in the lives of our youth.

Sibling Connection supports the creation of enduring family relationships and community connections for sisters and brothers experiencing foster care in Massachusetts. Our work is accomplished through innovative programs and practices restoring and strengthening the lives of siblings who have been separated when placed in the foster care system.
Description
Sibling Connections supports siblings separated by the public foster care system in Massachusetts. There are over 10,000 youth in foster care, and often siblings are separated due to the lack of foster homes available that are able to home all siblings. Children in foster care who have access to their families report improved social, emotional and behavioral well being. We support family connections through three programs:
-Sibling Sundays is a program we offer from Oct - May which allows siblings to get together about once a month with their siblings to spend time and enjoy an activity together for 3-4 hours. We operate Sibling Sundays in the Greater Boston area, Lowell, and Springfield.
-Camp Sibling Connections is a week-long camp located in Smithfield, Maine in which 115 siblings come together for a week of fun.
-Weekend Retreats allow siblings to spend a weekend together building their relationships and enjoying activities that typical siblings would experience.
Sibling Connections is supported by the volunteer support of over 100+ individuals statewide and are the backbone of our organization. So often, kids in the foster care are supported by adults in who are paid to do so. Our kids treasure the time with a caring adult who is choosing to be a part of their lives because they care about them. Please consider becoming a Sibling Connections family member today!
