Operation Harvey (and coming Irma) is underway like so many other awesome rescues we will be receiving 30 puppies and dogs by air and by land bringing them to safety and finding each and everyone of them a home. Many others will be waiting patiently to board flights we have set up during the coming weeks.

Texas has long been one of the worst places for stray and homeless pets. Ruff House has been coming to the aid of Texas animals for many years now and we hope that this is the beginning of support and awareness for the animals there. So many adoptable animals are killed in shelters and on the streets. I am so happy so many are being saved. To date RHR has saved over 6000 lives and counting!
WAYS TO HELP:
1) Local to Freeport, New York: Fostering of a puppy or dog until we find them a fur-ever home. We need fosters when they arrive! RHR supplies everything you just provide the love. To be a Foster you must be local (20 minutes) to Freeport, New York which is located on Long Island and at least 21 years old. Please submit a foster application on our website if you can take in one of these babies.
2) Near New York: Adoption of a puppy or dog (we have kitties and cats too). You must travel to our Rescue to meet with us and the dog/cat before you can adopt. There is also an application on our website you must complete.
3) Virtual: Please support us by sponsoring us through our Best Friend's "Strut Your Mutt, 5K fundraiser"!! We need Sponsors or you can "Join our Team" and get your own sponsors too! You do not have to walk on Oct 7th to impact the lives of so many just sign up and thank you! See our website for more information.
4) Virtual and Inperson: Please look at our other volunteer positions -- We have over 20!
OTHER INFORMATION:
- COMMUNITY HOURS: Letter ONLY provided for some In-person Opportunities BUT if you do a "drive" for Kennel Supplies, Pennies for RHR Fundraiser or a Garage/Tag Sale at your school/church/community center you could have someone LOCAL be a Coordinator of your hours. Also see the "EXERCISE + RESQWALK" or "EXERCISE + WOOFTRAX" (Exercise and record your miles for free $$) opportunities too! It records your time and miles exercised.

WE GO BIG, SO THEY GO HOME.
Going BIG means that our fosters and volunteers always show up in a big way and are incredibly hands-on, passionate, and dedicated, whether they are volunteering remotely, at our kennel, or at our adoption events.
Ruff House Rescue is the largest 501 (c)(3) non-profit rescue on the South Shore of Long Island. Our mission is to seek out under-served shelters and communities where we can make the biggest lifesaving impact. Our goal is to create a world where the kind and rewarding experience of adoption is the standard. We do this through tireless passion, commitment, and advocacy.
We are a foster-based network of animal lovers who seek to save as many lives as possible, as fast as we can. As a largely volunteer-based organization, we depend on the generosity of our Ruff House family to do this life changing work.
No animal is euthanized.
