At the event, I will need volunteers at the ticket tables, 50/50 raffle, and basket raffle table. So individuals interested in volunteering must be comfortable with money exchange (taking ticket money and giving change back if needed) and interacting with people-especially at the raffle tables.

Mission Statement

A 501C3 (tax exempt) cancer charity in Central New York with a mission to provide financial assistance to cancer patients currently undergoing treatment, to advocate and guide families/patients facing all types of cancers, to provide funding for cancer research/education, to provide needed equipment to treatment centers and charitable hospitals, and to promote the prevention & early detection of cancer.

Description

The organization is based in Rome, NY and provides assistance to cancer patients (OF ALL AGES) living in or being treated in the Foundation's service area of Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, & Onondaga Counties. The Foundation does not pay doctor bills or co-pays. The Foundation assists with the payment of other monthly expenses (treatment travel expenses-gas & hotel, utility bills, rent, needed medical supplies/equipment, child care, etc) so the patient's money can be put towards doctor bills & co-pays. The Foundation also donates needed equipment to hospitals and treatment centers within the service area. The Foundation was founded in Sept 2014 (in honor of Joseph Michael Chubbuck who passed away in August of 2013 after fighting a rare, aggressive cancer for 16 months. He was 22 yrs old. The Foundation became active in January of 2015. Since that time, the Foundation has helped 4-6 patients a month. In 2015, the Foundation raised approx. $45,000 and gave approx. $42,000 away. In 2016, the Foundation provided financial assistance to well over 100 patients in the surrounding service area.

To meet the increasing demand, the Foundation hosts 4 fundrasiers a year- October, January, March, and August. Volunteers are needed at each of these events to assist with raffles, tickets, etc. To learn more about the Foundation, or to volunteer please check out the Foundation web page at www.thejmcf.org.
