Reports to: Program Supervisor, Communities in Action
Service Commitment
- Full time, ten month commitment serving 1700 hours
- Hours can vary, but are generally Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00PM

Program Overview
The mission of the LISC AmeriCorps program is to transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy communities by placing AmeriCorps Members with Community Development Corporations (CDCs). LISC helps CDCs assist in the revitalization of underserved neighborhoods across America by providing financing and technical know-how to CDCs in order for the groups to develop affordable housing, spur commercial investments, create jobs and expand other services that improve the quality of life in the low-income communities where they live and work. AmeriCorps is one component of LISC’s human capital agenda and seeks to attract talented individuals to serve for one year at CDCs to help build organizational capacity.
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Communities in Action Program Supervisor, provides direct and indirect financial counseling services to low income individuals to assist in achieving self-sufficiency and increasing their financial sustainability through the provision of comprehensive budgeting education and assistance. Coordinate with program services including outreach, collaboration establishment, and program development in a culturally sensitive manner that is consistent with Lifeline’s philosophy and mission. Also develops connections to employment agencies and work force training to achieve individual employment plans as it relates to job search, placement and retention.
