No One Left Behind is seeking Refugee Job/Career Counselors for the San Francisco East Bay Chapter.
No One Left Behind is the only veteran-run and veteran focused organization serving combat interpreters and combat support personnel who were forced to leave their homes in Iraq and Afghanistan due to being threatened by the Islamic State/the Taliban for working for the US military. These refugees, who risked their lives and those of their families for our troops, arrive in the US with few funds and no household goods. Our mission is to provide them with medium to long term support to start a successful life in the United States.Virtually all of our clients arrive in the United States with no job or job prospects. The biggest way we can help them is to identify their existing skill sets and put them on successful career paths.
Our Career Counselor position would have the following responsibilities for their client refugee:
1. Assess client's experience and skills (including their ability to speak and write English) via in person interviews if possible, or phone interviews if interview visits are not possible.
2. Develop and execute a plan of action with the client to help develop career path plan including finding compatible jobs/careers in the area, helping the client interview, etc.
3. Assist the client to the best of your ability on following this plan to completion and into the first month of employment.
4. Work with the rest of the NOLB team to identify strengths, deficits, and educational needs that the client could / should address to better position himself in his field.
Preferred but not required experience:
-Experience with career counseling, recruiting, or related HR professions
-Comfort with communicating clients who speak English as Second Language (ESL)

Mission Statement
No One Left Behind helps Afghan and Iraqi translators gain their U.S. Special Immigration Visas and ensures that they are properly resettled in America. When our Afghan and Iraqi allies resettle in the US, they usually come with nothing more than the clothes on their back and whatever they can fit into one suitcase. We feel that given their profound service to our nation's military while at war, these interpreters deserve better than years of waiting on seldom delivered visas and almost no support in resettling in America.
Description
We help with immigration services to interpreters and translators who are being denied visas due to the bureaucratic red tape. We provide furnished apartments, modest financial support to help cover the weeks it can take before their social service benefits (food, medical, etc.) begin, and employment placement assistance. We also pair up newly arrived refugees with other Iraqis and Afghans who have successfully immigrated to the US -- to help smooth the transition.
