Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, located in Palo Alto California has an ongoing need for volunteers over the age of 18 willing to make a 2 hour weekly commitment to make friendly visits. These visits may include just a friendly chat or help with sorting and organizing client papers, reading mail, organize materials and running errands if possible. There are clients of Vista Center located from South San Francisco to Gilroy.
If you have the transportation, time and interest please go the organization's website at www.vistacenter.org where you will see a button on the home page directing you to an application. Once you submit your application you will be interviewed at our Palo Alto office and then asked to do a fingerprint scan at the organization's expense. After that we will do our best to match you with one of our clients who have requested a volunteer.
Thank you very much for your interest in volunteering.

Description
Volunteers help Vista Center clients achieve their goals in variety of ways.
In the Client-Partner program, volunteers meet regularly with clients to help with mail, read aloud, go on walks, run errands or other tasks, based on client needs.
As Accessibility Team Members, with additional training and oversight, volunteers help clients develop filing/tracking systems, program phones, and/or label appliances, on an as-needed bais.
Event volunteers lend support through a variety of tasks at Vista's key fundraising events: Woof to Woof, A Vintage Affaire, and the Menlo Charity Horse Show.
On-Call volunteers assist with events or tasks, as needed, when their schedules permit.
