Position Summary:
The program events coordinator will help LVM manage the events that we organize for our tutors and students. Events and workshops are an essential part of LVM’s program; they provide ongoing educational opportunities and support for our tutors and students and promote community. The LVM-Boston team values creativity and flexibility, and will be excited to collaborate with a volunteer who wants to bring his or her unique experience and interests to the position.
The position will be approximately 4-8 hours per week during regular office hours (Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm). The LVM staff is happy to work with the right volunteer to establish a schedule that is mutually convenient and feasible. The volunteer will mostly work at LVM’s headquarters in historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, although he or she will occasionally need to work off-site to coordinate an event.
This position provides valuable experience for individuals with an interest in gaining experience in the non-profit sector, adult education, and specifically in event planning. Volunteers are highly valued members of our dynamic team and make a significant contribution to providing high quality instruction to adult learners in Massachusetts.
The position is open immediately. This position requires a 4-month minimum commitment; the volunteer position may be extended longer if both the volunteer and LVM staff feel this is appropriate. The program events coordinator must attend a general training about LVM organizational practices on Thursday, October 12th and will receive additional, one-on-one training from the LVM-Boston Coordinator.
