Volunteer Remedial Math Tutor Needed in Exotic Tanzania

A small number of our secondary school orphan boys (5) in Tanzania are struggling with math and need a comprehensive "remedial" math program somewhat similar to one that students beginning college are often required to take. These boys are 17 - 18 years old.

The volunteer tutor is expected to commit a minimum of four hours each day from Monday through Friday. The daily time can be broken up as the tutor and students decide considering how best the particular math subject of the day or week can be addressed. The tutoring can include group discussions, help with individual students, use of online math resources, games, and other activities suitable for illustrating different math concepts.

The volunteer will be provided a private bedroom with bath, meals, and laundry services at no cost at the EfforTZ facility which is also the boys’ residence when they are not in school. Additionally, the volunteer will receive a monthly stipend of $250. The cost of transportation to and from Tanzania will be the responsibility of the volunteer.

On weekends, the volunteer may take safaris to some of the most spectacular places in Tanzania and in the world. These would include Mount Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti. These areas, as well as many National Parks, are all within 1 to 4 hours of Arusha and shouldn't be missed.
