Loyola

Enjoy great satisfaction as a compassionate volunteer who enriches the lives of patients with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones. All you need is genuine desire to help patients and their families, emotional maturity, ability to offer assurance and kindness without judgment, ability to listen with sensitivity and respect, flexibility to adapt to the changes in needs and background-check clearance. Full training is provided. Those who have recently lost a loved one are asked to wait a year before becoming volunteers.

We are currently looking for someone to assist our bereavement coordinator once a week. This person would send letters and make phone calls to people in our bereavement program. He or she would work on mailings and make phone calls to anyone who might be interested in our grief support groups or our semiannual memorial service. We need someone very reliable who will come in 1-2 mornings or afternoons a week for 4 hours shifts. This would be an excellent opportunity for a ministry or social work student (or a retired minister or social worker). Our families need you!

Mission Statement

We are a Trinity Home Health Services agency. We serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities.

Description

For patients experiencing life-limiting illnesses or injuries, Loyola Medicine’s hospice program provides compassionate and comprehensive care to adult and pediatric patients. Hospice care is for patients with terminal illness or injury and intended to provide comfort and relief from pain, allowing for the highest quality of life possible during the time that remains.

Loyola’s skilled doctors, nurses, therapists, chaplains and home health aides provide care that focuses not only on medical issues, but also emotional and spiritual needs. Care is provided in the patient's home, with inpatient care for symptom control and pain management provided at Loyola University Medical Center. Respite care is provided at skilled nursing facilities or at long-term care facilities in the community.

Loyola’s hospice team also provides support for the patient’s family, providing counseling, comfort and guidance on caring for your loved one with dignity. Loyola’s hospice care team is available 24/7.

Loyola’s Home Health Services and Hospice Care is a Medicare-certified, Illinois Department of Public Health-licensed home care and hospice.
